Artistic Director's Message

Our 22nd Season is a perfect opportunity to introduce our plan to focus on the Urban Landscape that has so often given us a measure of who we are, where we come from, and where we are headed. The globalization of cultures has shifted this Urban Landscape dramatically. The Latin culture exists at the intersection for many of these, mainly because it is rooted in what I like to call the cultures of the world - European, African, Asian and Indiginous.

This season we bring to you our newest resident writer, Candido Tirado. One of the original New Yorican writers of our time. Momma's Boyz is a humorous, dark look at what happens when a young man turns back the hands of time to save the life of his friend from the violence of drug dealing in the streets.

Fish Men is our second installment in Teatro Vista's partnership with the Goodman Theatre. This world premiere is set in Washington Square Park, New York. Nine characters from all walks of life allow us into their world where Chess is King, and the circumstances of the Hustle expose us to their lives within the game. Truly exciting world brought to the stages!

We round out our 22nd season with the return of our annual Tapas series of four new play readings from some of the most profound and exciting voices championing Latino theatre in the country.
